Samuel W. Thomas, Ph. D., is an assistant professor of chemistry in the School of Arts and Sciences at Tufts University.  Thomas and his lab take an interdisciplinary approach to the design, synthesis, and characterization of organic materials that have new light-responsive functions. They combine organic synthesis, physical organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, and photochemistry to achieve their goals. Ongoing projects include photochemical control over electrostatic forces with light, organic semiconducting materials with new properties, and new amplification strategies for luminescence-based sensing.
