Catherine K. Kuo, Ph.D., B.S.E., is an assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tufts University, and also holds an appointment in the Sackler School of Graduate Biomedical Sciences. She is the director of the Developmental and Regenerative Engineering Lab, which focuses on stem cell-based tissue engineering and regenerative medicine strategies inspired by embryonic development. Her research integrates stem cells, scaffolds and bioreactor technology to develop biomimetic embryonic tissue micro-environments that can mechanically and biochemically direct stem cell differentiation in the regeneration of new tissues.
Professor Kuo can speak about:
- Tissue engineering
- Stem cells (mechanical and chemical regulation)
- Regenerating tissues for replacement of injured or diseased tissues
- Engineered tissue platforms for studying development, homeostasis, wound healing and disease
