Calvin Gidney, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Development at Tufts University. Dr. Gidney researches the theoretical underpinnings of linguistics, which is the study of languages and their structure. He teaches courses in language development, the acquisition of literacy, bilingual education, and language disorders in children. His current research projects include an investigation into the language of children’s television, as well as research in the socio-cultural contexts of teaching and learning.
