Richard Jankowsky, Ph.D., is an associate professor of music in ethnomusicology in the School of Arts and Sciences at Tufts University. His research focuses on music, culture, and ritual in Tunisia, with a particular focus on Sufism and the musics of minorities. He is the author of Stambeli: Music, Trance, and Alterity in Tunisia, as well as articles and reviews in journals such as Ethnomusicology, Ethnomusicology Forum, The World of Music, and The Continuum Encyclopedia of Popular Music of the World.
